This Guy

To briefly summarize, I wasn't a fan. I already had a bad feeling about this movie when the trailer first premiered on the internet. And, yeah, my sense of foreboding proved accurate. 

Despite my anxieties about the film, however, I wound up in the theater on opening night, because Zac was a producer on the film, and I have to support his career in any way I can.

That Awkward Moment was basically what I expected it would be. At almost no point did the dialogue ever feel like anything a real person would say. The writing was riddled with every cliche in the romantic comedy book. The characters were frustratingly and embarrassingly stupid, to the point that their ignorance to other people's emotions, and any potential consequences of their thoughtless actions, made them awful. And, by far, the movie's pinnacle of idiocy and awfulness is none other than Zac Efron's Jason. 

In all honesty, however, Zac's portrayal of this character seemed to clash with the way the character was written. It's as though Zac was aware, to some degree, that what Jason was doing was wrong, and had Jason react to certain scenarios like he was aware that he was screwing things up, but he ultimately had to go along with it despite his awareness, because it's what the script called for and the plot couldn't progress without Jason being a selfish moron. I didn't enjoy this film at all, but I almost want to obtain a copy on DVD just to study Zac's performance. It was baffling to me. 

Anyway, since I had a screencap of one of the standout moments of Jason's stupidity on-hand for my review, I figured, "Eh. Why not?", and this was the result. 

I'm honestly kind of ashamed of myself for drawing this.
